Our Team
The teachers and staff at A Child’s Place are passionate about the education and growth of your child. They strive for excellence in caring for your child and exceed the minimum requirements for Kentucky childcare providers. All receive a minimum of 15 hours of supplemental education within their area of expertise, CPR, and First Aid training, and pediatric head trauma training. In addition, we prioritize the safety of our children above all else, and thus require all staff to take and pass drug screening on date of hire and submit to random drug testing throughout the year, exceeding state licensing requirements.
CILISA CARPENTER - Owner
Cilisa opened the center more than 25 years ago after teaching in the Midway school system. She wanted to change her field and help kids at a younger age before they reached elementary school. Cilisa has a Bachelor's degree in child psychology and sociology and graduated at the top of her class. She has her Masters degree in Child Psychology and education. Cilisa volunteers in the Jessamine county school system. Her love of children is the driver behind A Child's Place. She enjoys learning, reading, and spending time with her daughter and family.
Tracey Cooper - Director
Tracey comes to A Child's Place with over 20 years of experience working with young children. She has 10 years experience as an assistant director and 4 years experience as Director. Tracey also has a Kentucky Director's Credential, CDA in Preschool, and she is a strong advocate for young children and their families. Tracey is dedicated to the development and needs of each individual child and has two children of her own. When she is not working, she loves to spend time with her family, reading, and listening to music.
TANYA CHADWELL - Assistant Director
Tanya has been with A Child’s place since 2014 and serves in our school age classroom. She is currently pursuing a degree in interdisciplinary in Early Childhood Development and brings five years of experiences to the role. She is in the process of receiving her CDA credential. Tanya has three children and loves doing arts and crafts with them, watching basketball and playing games.
RACHEL MARSHALL - Nutrition
Rachel has been with A Child’s Place since 2011. With eight years of childcare experience and four children of her own, Rachel loves cooking for our children. Outside of work she enjoys arts and crafts and spending time with her family.
SYDNEY PERKINS- Floater
Sydney started at A Child's Place in 2018. She brings 3 years of childcare experience to A Child's Place. She loves doing Arts & Crafts with the children. Sydney loves to watch basketball and take pictures.
